An $81 Million Spending Spree

The Village Capital Improvement Plan projects spending $81,400,092 in the four years ending in 2027. That works out to $7,282 for each man, woman or child living in Oregon.

And that’s not even the end of the spending. In the four years after that, the Village Board plans on spending yet another $39,458,254 on capital projects.

These plans will increase property taxes for the average homeowner by hundreds of dollars. It will more than double your current water and sewer bill.

But, in spite of this incredible expense looming on the horizon, the Village Board continues to spend money on projects that are not essential. Just this past fall they gave the go ahead for an additional $2.5 million in spending for Jaycee Park.

The Village Board needs to show fiscal responsibility. Non-essential projects should be cancelled or deferred until the Village has its spending under control. Capital projects that can be put off should be deferred.
